Childhood
Michael Jordan was born on Feburary 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. As a child, he loved playing basketball with his older brother and his friends. Soon, when Jordan was in high school, he tried out for his basketball team. Sadly, he was cut. But, that never stopped him. All year, Michael praticed and praticed. And when sophmore basketball tryouts came along, Michael made the team. That shows how determined he was with basketball.
College Career
In 1981, Michael Jordan received a full ride basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina. He earned a starting spot as a freshman. Jordan was Freshman of the Year in 1982. By doing so well in his freshman season, Jordan was named the First Team All-American for his junior and sophomore year.In his final season, Jordan averaged a 19.6 points per game, a 55% shooting average and 5.3 rebounds per game. Lastly, He was also the college player of the year for 1983-1984.

NBA Career
In 1984, Michael Jordan got drafted to the Chicago Bulls in the 1984 NBA draft. From there, Jordan went all pro. He averaged 30.1 points per game, a 50% shooting average and 6.20 rebounds per game. Jordan won Rookie of the Year in 1985. Michael Jordan is known for his legendary dunks. He won the NBA Dunk Contest in 1987. Jordan can dunk from the free throw line. Michael Jordan retired in 2003. He now does commercials for Hanes. He also has a shoe brand called Jordan.
